Today I am kicking off a series to highlight a different knit stitch each week. I'm starting off this series with a very easy, super beginner friendly stitch, the 2x2 Rib Stitch. To master the 2x2 rib, the only two knitting skills you need to know are how to knit and how to purl. If you've got that, you've got this.
This is a stitch I love to use when I want an easy stitch that I can just kind of space out and do for hours. It is perfect for the rim of a hat or for any project that you want to be extra stretchy. I'm currently using it to make a throw pillow cover and I love how stretchy and soft it is turning out.
It is also super easy to set down and pick up again because you simply knit in the knit stitches and purl in the purl stitches. As a mom of 4 kids, it's easy to understand why I love this particular feature. Sometimes, "let me finish this row", just isn't an option and this stitch won't be ruined if you have to step away.

The 2x2 Rib Knit Stitch is shown here both as it looks as you're knitting and how it looks stretched out.
