About Gem State Yarns
Welcome to Gem State Yarns, your destination for exquisitely dyed yarns crafted with passion and care. Founded in 2020, Gem State Yarns is the culmination of a lifelong love affair with colors and fibers, rooted in the heart of Idaho, famously known as the Gem State.
Our Story
Gem State Yarns was born from Heather's deep-seated passion for knitting, crocheting, weaving, and dyeing yarns. Inspired by the stunning landscapes and rich culture of Idaho, each skein of yarn we produce began as a testament to the beauty of the Gem State. However, it has grown into so much more. From a humble Etsy Shop to a full blown website offering hundreds of colorways, dyed to order.
Our Yarns
Indulge in the luxurious textures and vibrant hues of our hand-dyed yarns, carefully curated to elevate your knitting and crocheting projects. Currently all of our yarn bases are almost entirely 100% superwash merino (with the exception of our sock weight which blends in a little nylon as well).
This gives crafters the ability to gently machine wash their wares without worrying about shrinking. While tumble drying on low is also okay, you may opt to dry flat if you want to ensure that the original shape is maintained.
Craftsmanship
At Gem State Yarns, we take pride in our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. Each skein is lovingly dyed by hand, resulting in unique colorways that inspire creativity and evoke a sense of wonder. Whether you're knitting a cozy sweater or crafting a delicate shawl, our yarns are designed to elevate your handcrafted creations to new heights.
